Mike dreamed of being a cowboy from the time he was a little boy. He has definitely lived up to that dream. Growing up in Nebraska gave him a lot of opportunity to work cattle and horses. A rodeo scholarship took him to Texas and he has found success as a bull rider, team roper and bull dogger in the rodeo arena. He is a manager at a feed yard now so he is constantly surrounded by cattle and horses. One of his favorite chores is taking care of pastured cattle and he prefers to do it horseback. Another favorite activity is participating in the old fashioned brandings that were common during his youth in Nebraska, and still happen on ranches today, where each calf is roped and horses are still an integral part of completing each job. He has also proven himself as a proficient trainer of young horses and can finish a very high quality rope horse.
Ali has been horse crazy from birth and took every opportunity available to be around horses as a child. She worked with trainers in both English and Western riding as a youth and really enjoyed both jumping and barrel racing. She has also been an artist since childhood and has preferred horses as her subject for most of her artwork. As an adult she has successfully shown in both English and Western disciplines and enjoyed barrel racing whenever she had the chance. When she was living in Germany she rode hunter-jumpers and then moved to Texas. There she owned and operated a riding stable that boarded horses, took out trail rides and horseback camping trips as well as taught riding lessons and trained horses. She specialized in starting beginning riders and finding them fool-proof horses. Many of her students went on to excel in the show ring and the rodeo arena, especially in barrels and poles.
Mike and Ali met in Texas and their combined love of quality horses launched the Morning Ranch. They joined Ali’s breeding program with Mike’s training abilities and have used their talents to develop the strong program that exists today. They both enjoy seeing great horses grow from birth to success under saddle. Matching the right horses with the right owners is something that they both are dedicated to doing as well as possible. They look forward to many more years in the equine industry and want to share their passion and success with as many other horse lovers as they can touch. The move to Kansas centrally locates them to all of America and they are excited about all the new opportunities. Currently they have customer’s spanning from Florida to California, and even into Mexico and Columbia. Mike and Ali are excited to meet all their future friends in the industry. They hope to provide horses of the best quality and conduct themselves in such a way as to earn the respect and trust of all those they contact. God is the CEO of our business and we want to honor Him in all we do.
